Safety Tips
The Moji Intelligent Messenger and the MojiKan is a virtual environment that makes it easy to express yourself, create virtual pets, chat with friends and makes new ones. It is of extreme importance that you always remember to safeguard your privacy and security at all times. Please remember that when you chat with people you don't know, you could expose yourself to danger. Here are some common sense guidelines that you should follow when using the Moji Intelligent Messenger or the MojiKan:
  • Users aren't always who they say they are. Be careful about adding strangers to your buddies list. The pets and characters you create allow you to be yourself without exposing any personal information. While it's fun to connect with new friends from all over the world, avoid providing any information that could be used to personally identify you.

  • Be safe in Chat. If someone in a chat says or wears something that you find offensive, abusive or inappropriate, report the incident immediately or close the chat window. If the person continues to reach out to you, block them. Click here to learn more about how to block a MojiKan user.

  • Have a safe Homepage. MojiKan encourages you to build your MojiKan identity around your pet or characters. A good way to remain safe online is to keep all personally identifying information off of your homepage (e.g., your real name, your phone number, address, screens names from other IM clients, or specific whereabouts). Don’t give away personal information of any kind. MojiKan strongly recommends you not to upload pictures of yourself. Instead, spend time making personalizing your pet such that it can represent who you are. If you come across another user's homepage that you find offensive, report it immediately.

  • In-person meetings can be dangerous. Meeting up in the real world with people you meet online is *not* always a great idea. The MojiKan offers plenty of opportunities to meet your online friends in cool or custom created environments. If you choose to meet an online friend in the real world, there are some very important rules you should stick to.
    • Meet only people you feel you know well, have known for a long time, and only with your parents' knowledge and permission.
    • Meet in a public place, such as a mall.
    • Go with a parent or 18+ sibling (even if you are an adult yourself)
    • Make sure the person you're meeting is not alone, but coming with a parent/other adult.

  • Always follow your family's rules for the Internet. They're there to make sure you have fun and stay safe online.

  • Be honest about your age. If you are under 13 and pretend to be older, your must enter the under-13 section of the MojiKan or we will delete your account. If you are over 18 and pretend to be younger to contact underage users, MojiKan will delete your account. If you are under 18 and pretend to be older to contact older users, MojiKan will delete your account.

  • No MojiKan staff member will ever ask for your password or email Don't fall for any scam that asks for your MojiKan password or your personal email address especially if it comes to you from someone you believe to be a MojiKan staff member. MojiKan staff can easily contact you via the email address you used to register your account. If you change email addresses, please update your MojiKan account.

  • Don’t get hooked by a phishing scam. Phishing is a method used by fraudsters to try to get your personal information, such as your username and password, by pretending to be a site you trust.

MojiKan Tips for Parents
For kids, teens and adults, MojiKan is an online virtual world and place that allows all our users to connect with each other and safely express themselves. As with all things on the internet, we understand that being safe online is a shared responsibility between the service provider, teens and their parents. At MojiKan, we take teen safety seriously.

As a parent, please consider the following guidelines to help your kids and teens make safe decisions about using the MojiKan and other online communities:
  • Talk to your teens about how they socialize online.

  • Your teens shouldn't lie about how old they are. We have different sections for different age groups in the MojiKan. Please adhere to these rules at all times.

  • The MojiKan is a public space. MojiKan users can communicate with others and express themselves in 3D chats and 2D homepages. Members shouldn't post anything they wouldn't want the world to know (e.g., your real name, your phone number, address, screens names from other IM clients, or specific whereabouts) in either chats or on their homepages. Tell your teens they should avoid posting or saying anything in a chat that would make it easy for a stranger to find them, such as their local hangouts, where they go to school, etc.

  • Remind them not to post pictures or any other personal information. MojiKan encourages all of its users to represent themselves using their pets or creations. There is no need for your kids or teens to post any pictures of themselves or to provide any personally identifying information.

  • Encourage your teens to report inappropriate behavior. MojiKan provides users with easy ways to report anything that makes them uncomfortable in a chat or homepage. Encourage your teens to use these tools and talk to you about these incidents. Your teens should feel comfortable talking to you about these incidents or reporting them to MojiKan or the authorities.

  • Don’t get hooked by a phishing scam. Phishing is a method used by fraudsters to try to get your personal information, such as your username and password, by pretending to be a site you trust.
